Our history

Poirier Marine has proudly contributed for a long time to the Buckingham’s Lions Club, to the Club Richelieu de Buckingham and to Maison de la famille de Notre Dame du Laus.

Official opening

1962

Official opening at 173 Georges Street by Jacques Poirier. At the beginning, the company was called Poirier Small Engine Shop!

Mercury Marine

1962

Beginning of the relationship with Mercury Marine.

1965 to 1973

1965

Snow Jet snowmobiles and the start of another long story with Altra, which later became Princecraft.

Tornado

1978

The establishment is completely devastated.

Company purchase

1980

Normand Poirier, Jacques’s son, takes over the company.

1980 to 2010

Numerous expansions of our facilities spanning 20 years.

2007 to 2013

Purchase of Poirier Marine by Jean-Louis Poirier, 3rd generation.

Volvo Penta

2008

Partnership with Volvo Penta.

Master Technician Award

2009

Jean-Louis Poirier obtains the Master Technician Award by Mercury. Master technician title that only half a dozen experts hold in Quebec!

Stingray Boats

2014

Partnership with Stingray Boats.

Monterey Boats

2014

Partnership with Monterey Boats.

Thurso Marina

2020

Partnership with the city of Thurso to start the Thurso Marina.

POIRIER MARINE ACQUIRES EXPERT MARINE GATINEAU

2023

Poirier Marine acquires Expert Marine Gatineau and, with three businesses now under its belt, Poirier Marine becomes Poirier Marine Masson-Thurso-Gatineau.
